Handicapped Pioneering!

It has been close to a month since my batchmates and I have commenced our venture training. Usually, these trainings are planned by us to complete the Venture Progress Badge. However, the meeting we attended yesterday was planned by the Venture Training Team. When I heard that the meeting was going to be planned by them, I was quite excited as I knew we were up for a fun experience but was also nervous we might get punished by them for not doing things properly. Nevertheless, I was still looking forward to what was in store for me.

On the day of the training, it turns out that we were doing pioneering. What we had to build was an arena or stadium for a real-life game of foosball. The arena was made from 6 square frames being stacked on top of one another and 4 silver poles being tied at each corner. At first glance, it seemed like an easy thing to do. However, I was completely wrong.

Turns out, the activity came with a twist. 2 people from our batch had to be tied together by the legs every 5 minutes and we had to ensure that we were still able to tie the structure with these obstacles.

During the start, the process of pioneering was relatively smooth, everyone was ensuring that they could tie as many knots as they could before they were tied up to another person. As soon as the first pair of scouts were tied up, our progress slowed down by a lot as not only was it difficult for the pair to move, it was also difficult for the pair to tie the knots as well.

Having seen all the problems the pairs faced, I thought of a solution that made the tying process much easier. When I was tied together with Fiqri, I would be the one that does the tying while he would help me pull the rope as it is much easier on his side. After seeing this, the rest of the pairs decided to do the same.

With perseverance and much hard work, we finally managed to get the structure up and I was very impressed with our work despite having a significant number of difficulties. I personally felt that this was a very good way for my batchmates to bond again and also a great way to reinforce the importance of communication. I would not mind trying this out for a different structure again
