Provide First Aid for commonly occurring physical injuries in an outdoor setting
Scenario
During a scout meeting, you and your patrol mates were building a pioneering structure. Suddenly, one of the poles from the main structure gave way and the structure began to shake violently before collapsing. One of your fellow scouts who was on the structure fell down onto the ground when the pole gave way. There is visible swelling at his shin area
Steps
The first step is to check for danger. Move away any poles that are close to the victim in case they start to roll down. Secondly, ask for assistance and also ask someone to call an ambulance. Since there is swelling at the shin, it means that there's a closed fracture. Next, to ensure that his leg does not move, splint on it. However, if there isn't a proper splint, a short pole may be used as well. After that, along with the splint, wrap the two legs with a roller bandage to prevent any extra movement and lastly, wait for help to arrive.
